Toshiba TW40X81 HD-ready-TV $2199-$2799
This is the cheapest HDTV available that's made by a big name electronics company. Toshiba can almost be thought of as a distant relative of Sony since both Playstations share components made by Toshiba. Although you would need to buy a HDTV decoder to enjoy "true" high definition television. This TV-set is still an HDTV and offers the best picture money can buy. The screen is 40inches wide which is just large enough to give you that surround feeling. Widescreen PS2 games would come to life in a way that a normal TV just can't do. |

Sony Wega KV-36XBR250 $2099-$2299 This wonderful TV is the best stop-gap between a normal 4.3 TV and a widescreen 16.9 HDTV. Also for just above $2000 this TV has XBR technology allowing it to compress the vertical resolution of the picture to emulate a widescreen TV. It's like having a 36-inch normal TV, and a 34-inch Widescreen TV built into one unit. But it doesn't have the full horizontal resolution of a widescreen TV so it must be thought of as a very good second choice. Still it's hard to think of this as anything but a fine TV. Very worthy of the PS2. |

Sony HTD-DW910 home theater $599-799
Without a Dolby Digital 5.1 home theater, you will only be able to enjoy half of what the PS2 will offer. Paired with the optical digital output on the PS2 you can enjoy full Dolby Digital surround sound with room filling bass. With 5 surround speaker outputs, and a 6th output for a powered subwoofer, games and movies will breath with life and realism. You can find this system for around $599 at best Buy. This system does not support DTS surround sound, I choose this system because DTS is not universally supported and would add to the total cost. Remember we are going for the cheapest way possible to fully enjoy the PS2. |

Sony DCR-TRV510 Digital8 camcorder $1299 Alright this is allot of money for a camcorder, but you can find the DCR-TR7000 for $799 if you don't mind not having a flipout LCD screen. And it still has the important feature - the firewire port. With the firewire port found on this camera and the PS2 you will be able to download still pictures and video back and forth between the 2 devices. Digital editing of home movies and customising your games should be possible with this camera and your powerful PlayStation2. |
