This is my guess from the low end to the high end for the REAL specs of the next Playstation.
250-300mhz 64bit CPU
24-32 megs of main RAM, 12-16 megs of Video RAM
10-12 million PPS, with about 3-1/2 to 4 million with all effects on at 60FPS. (no nurbs)
DVD of course, and can play DVD movies in some form
56k modem with flat rate online web-broswer/net-gaming service.
Thats my low end guess, in other words, thats as low as I think the specs can possibly be. Here's my high end guess, this is as high as I can realisticly expect the P2K to be.

48-64 megs main RAM, 24-32 megs video RAM
10-12 million Polygons and Nurbs per second with all effects on at 60FPS. HDTV output option.
DVD, can play DVD movies right out of the box.
And yes I think it might be Backwards Compatible with the PSX.
56k modem/cable modem compatible - flatrate web browser/net gaming service - direct local call mulitplayer gaming (can call buddy direct and play him/her for free)
And of course the totally unrealistic please god be real specs.

128 megs main RAM, 64 megs video RAM
20 million Polys and Nurbs per second with all effects on at 60FPS, HDTV output option
